Harper's Ferry Half 2017

Image
Last summer while visiting my sister in WV, my mom found a flyer advertising some local races. There was a spring half, 5k and kids fun run as well as a fall full, half, 5k and kids run. I knew these events had to go on my 2017 calendar.  The best part about the spring race,  Harper's Ferry Half Marathon , was that my sister lives about 10 minutes from the start line. The half marathon started at 8:00 am at  River Riders  which has both water activities and an adventure park with zip-lining and other really neat stuff. I hope to go back another time and explore. Back to the race though... Communication leading up to race day was awesome and ensured I wouldn't miss a single detail. Friday evening, packet pick up was at the Clarion hotel right behind/above the River Riders location. The process was simple and we were in and out without a problem. We even had to switch my oldest nephew to the 5k since online registration only let my sister's sign him up for the f...

January Yoga Challenge Recap

Image
For those of you that follow me on instagram, you know that I have been faithfully hitting the mat for every day of January. I am not going to lie- it has not always been easy. During the week it was generally easy to get done because I would practice at my lunch break. The weekends got tricky with long runs and other obligations. Most importantly, even when it got hard to, I showed up for myself. With the exception of Day 1, I completed each day on the assigned day and I am so proud of that. Last year I doubled up quite a few times. January 1st I worked all day then we went to visit family and we actually got home after midnight so I decided I would just get a good night's rest then hit it the next day. Each week day I would anxiously await my lunch break from work so that I could hit the mat. I loved that this series had practices that were generally 30 minutes or less. It made it so much easier for me to make the time for it and my brain and body were so grateful. Practic...

Taking the Leap

When I think about yoga, the first thought that comes to mind is an escape from the real world. Yoga frees me and makes me feel refreshed and relaxed.  That’s why I am SO excited to participate in prAna’s Take The Leap 30 days of Yoga Challenge with Sweat Pink . I plan to down dog my way to a more flexible and reflective 2015!  For me, the biggest challenge when it comes to yoga is balance (in life and body). Taking the Leap with prAna and Sweat Pink is a great way for me to find balance in both ways.  My favorite place to yoga is in a group because it is so inspiring and challenging.  Here’s a photo of me in my very best (attempt at) crow. I have a long way to go, but getting stronger every day! I tag  Maria @ Lil Mys Ninja Danielle @  It's a Harley Life Adrienne @  Yo, Adrienne I want these fabulous bloggers to share their very best yoga pose photos, this fun madlib and of course, I challenge them to join me on t...

Inspiration Thursday!

Image
Sorry for the late (in the day) post... when we skip Mondays (work week wise) I get all out of whack and the days slip away from me while I try to get everything else done. So whats new this week? I have been working on my first #rwrunstreak. I hope that my old stress fracture site will allow me to do this and not tell me that running every day is not acceptable. Kind of fun because I have never been a run every day kind of person. I love it, but  I love doing other things too. Anyway- I decided to do a little theme of "push yourself" type inspiration today. As we all know, when we are injured we have to slowly get back to running or whatever your favorite activity is. The hardest part of this process for me has been going from 9 minute miles to 10 and beyond. Talk about soul crushing.  Today I really was just going to do 1 mile for the streak, but decided to do 2. Why? I wanted to see if I could do 1 mile at 9:30 and 1 mile at 9. Did I make it? Actually..... I ended up doi...
