Inspiration Thursday!

Image
Sorry for the late (in the day) post... when we skip Mondays (work week wise) I get all out of whack and the days slip away from me while I try to get everything else done. So whats new this week? I have been working on my first #rwrunstreak. I hope that my old stress fracture site will allow me to do this and not tell me that running every day is not acceptable. Kind of fun because I have never been a run every day kind of person. I love it, but  I love doing other things too. Anyway- I decided to do a little theme of "push yourself" type inspiration today. As we all know, when we are injured we have to slowly get back to running or whatever your favorite activity is. The hardest part of this process for me has been going from 9 minute miles to 10 and beyond. Talk about soul crushing.  Today I really was just going to do 1 mile for the streak, but decided to do 2. Why? I wanted to see if I could do 1 mile at 9:30 and 1 mile at 9. Did I make it? Actually..... I ended up doi

Plants, Memorials and Fears oh my

I don't know about all of you in blog-land, but I had a pretty fantastic weekend from start to finish. Friday evening, they let us off work early since we didn't have to take lunch breaks (always a plus!!) so I headed to farmer's market and not only got produce .. but plants to GROW my own produce as well. I headed to the store to get more produce plants and dirt as well as some flowers to spruce up the place outside. I also had to head to try and find a great birthday present for my dad whose birthday was.... Saturday. Yep. I am that person. I didn't really have much time to shop or ANY idea what to get him. Needless to say all missions accomplished and I think he was pretty happy with the gift as he put it in the yard as soon as he opened it and put it together. My dad is super big on outdoor decorating and plants so it only seemed fitting that I snatched this up for his gift. I can honestly say this is one of my favorite things about my dad- his love for t

Feeling like a pretty big blogger slacker this week, but I have good reason. I just switched shifts at work and I am trying to rediscover a decently normal life. Hoping next week to be back to blogging a bit more regularly. For now, enjoy your weekly kick in the pants- reminder why you started and why it is important to keep going. via via via via via via I need a lot of these so much right now. Coming back from an injury and realizing you won't magically get back to your previous speed an fitness level is a little exhausting. I have to remind myself not to STOP running to take a break just because my BRAIN says so. This is going to be a long journey but I have GOALS that matter more than my mind telling me it is impossible.  Carry on. Happy Thursday.

Vega Hydrator Review

Image
Thanks to my awesome connections as a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I got to try this   Electrolyte Hydrator  product by Vega. They did supply the product, but all the views and opinions expressed here are my own. I have to admit I was really excited about this product and the whole #FuelYourBetter campaign. I received my product and tried it within a few days.  I am always looking for a way to switch up my hydration from water. What better way to hydrate than with natural ingredients? The good? I think this product definitely does what it says- it hydrates and definitely can fuel in that way.  The bad? I really couldn't stomach this flavor. I am generally not a huge berry flavor but this seemed incredibly sweet. I tried it a few times and even over ice, but just couldn't get on board.  I am usually more of a lemon/lime kind of gal.  That being said, I mostly drank this when I did workouts at home or AFTER a run. I was too afraid that with the swee

This week has been full of ups and downs (physical, emotional, and weather based!) for me thus far. Each time I hit a struggle point that might make me want to quit all together, I turn to quotes to help me push onward. Are you ready?!? via via via via via I think this last one says it all. Although everyone's journey is so different there are still obstacles, mistakes, hard work, and eventually success, whatever that means to you. What do you do when you need a kick in the pants?

Who doesn't love a good bag?

Today I am super excited to share one of my new favorite fitness things with you!  Technically, it is a gym bag, but really it’s so much more than that. Read on to find out why! Back in March, I reached out to Apera Bags  to see if I could work with them and review one of their super bags. I kept seeing these bags on some of the blogs I follow and wanted to know what the big deal was.  Apera sent me the yoga tote in fushia in exchange for a written review here and other social media outlets.  Since receiving my yoga tote I know, without a doubt, that there is no match out there for this bag. When I opened up the the box, my reaction went a little like this. “Oh wow. Wow. Wooow. Wow. Really? Wow.”  I guess you could say I was a little speechless as I discovered all the pouches, pockets, and hiding places all included in one product.  Pretty sure there are more pockets than I have even discovered yet. While this may seem overwhelming, it is awesome for those of us who ne

Lets talk about something. How your body can be totally on board with running one day and yet the next day you step out the door, its a totally different story. For instance, Thursday night was balmy but beautiful so after work I was determined to put in a few miles. I usually am so tired at the end of the day since I don't get home until 8pm, but Thursday I was so energized but the warm temps and the sunshine. I rushed home, threw on my running gear and hit the road. I had a glorious run. I ran to Negley park which is a work in itself- hills, hills, hills. But it felt mostly effortless. All smiles as I overlook the Harrisburg skyline... always beautiful from this park.  I managed quite an amazing average -- my best as of late.. in MONTHS! So how is it possible.. that today's run... that was supposed to be 6 miles, that turned into 5 because I was so sluggish? Today was warmer and sunnier (aka not dark) and the humidity set in like crazy. But serio

This has been a slow posting week around here.. not really sure why.  Really trying to hone in and focus on some things.. I have a crazy goal for this year which I have kept pretty quiet to keep from jinxing myself. There will be more next week on this crazy decision of mine. For now, I am going to add to my collection of inspirational quotes.. I am really going to need these reminders as I move toward this next goal. via via I really got into it with a coworker earlier this week about this.. I hate diets, I hate seeing people go on these starvation detoxes and diets, I wish people could understand just how easy it is to eat real food, have a workout routine and feel great about it. No gimmicks here.  via Seriously, find something that interests you and you can be passionate about and DO IT! via via Let's do this. BURN I hope this week's post finds you well. Stay tuned for my review of an awesome bag and my big plans for th

Meatless Monday!!

Image
I am making more of an effort to share some of the food that I eat/make here on the blog. We all know that our diet is a huge contributor to how we feel and perform so I want to share a little more of this part of my life with you. A little disclaimer before I go any further is this: I don't eat based on any diet, just eat the best that I can but am not too hard on myself. I am not a dietitian, I do not track calories or closely monitor the nutritional content of every single thing I eat. Each week I try to have at least one meal on Monday be meatless. Does this always happen? Not by a long shot.  Today was one of those days where I am getting down on fresh produce that I have left in the fridge so I just went with it. I cut up pretty much one of everything I had, threw it on the grill and hoped for the best. For the dressing, I found a recipe online that was simple and whipped this up while the veggies were grilling.  Veggies:  2 Kohlrabi 1 Carrot 10-15 Cherry

Amazing Saturday

Image
I don't typically post on a weekend, but I felt that I needed to write about today while it was fresh in my mind. On Wednesday, I found out that I didn't have to babysit all day Saturday, just Sunday, so I posted on facebook for a running partner. One friend messaged me about a super early run but would oblige my request for a 6 miler even though he was doing 10. I debated and debated for two reasons- he does run/walk intervals and two ... did I really want to get up so darn early?? The answer ended up being a resounding YES for me. What changed my mind? I really wanted to run.. and I really wanted to run WITH someone. I have really missed the running community and my awesome friends who are a part of it. I also knew if I started my day with a run I would be a happy lady and probably be much more productive all day long. Ultimately we settled to meet on City Island and start our trek. I should probably also mention that I told him I could probably do 8 miles instead of m

Some weeks it truly amazes me how QUICKLY the days seem to drag yet fly all at the same time. If you have been trapped inside due to rain (like me!!)  you might be fighting the feeling to skip workouts. Have no fear.. your inspiration is here. No matter what you have to do- fit it in. Find a group class, something on youtube, whatever works for you!! via via via via via via Hope that these words and pictures hit you in the right spot to push yourself to the next level... whatever that might mean to you and your journey.
